Tim Farrell, Trumpet & Jazz

Tim Farrell is Associate Professor of Music and Director of Brass and Jazz Studies at Fort Lewis College.  Dr. Farrell is an active performer and clinician throughout the region.  Tim holds a Doctor of Musical Arts Degree in trumpet performance and wind conducting at the University of Oregon a Master of Music Degree in trumpet performance from Northwestern University and his Bachelor of Musical Arts Degree from Pacific Lutheran University. Tim has studied trumpet with Vincent Cichowicz, George Recker, Rick Pressley, Brad Goode and Roy Cummings and wind conducting with John Paynter, Robert Ponto, Tom O’Neal and Wayne Bennett.

Dr. Farrell spends his summers teaching trumpet at the International Music Camp and performing with the International Brass Quintet. Tim performs regularly with the Music in the Mountains Festival Orchestra, the Animas Music Festival; the Jeff Solon’s 1940’s Big Band and is principal trumpet with the San Juan Symphony Orchestra. He has worked in Chicago, Eugene, Seattle and Cincinnati as a freelance musician.

Directing highlights have include; the Colorado All-State Jazz Ensemble(2001), Fort Lewis College Select High School Band (2003, 2005, 2007), Inter Mountain League Honor Band(2002), Western Slope Honor Jazz Ensemble(2000). Tim Farrell is a Yamaha Performing Artist.
