Alumnus Chuck Balzer helps the GPE Hall move forward

Construction is well under way on Fort Lewis College’s new Geosciences, Physics and Engineering (GPE) Hall. Also underway is the FLC Foundation’s effort to raise private support for the building.

Chuck Baltzer (Geology, '82) is leading the way for FLC alumni giving back in support of the GPE Hall. His generous support of the hall will have a big impact on the departments and students who will call the new building home. In recognition of this gift, Chuck will name both a lab and a student study library in the new facility.

After more than three decades in the natural resources industry, Chuck has experienced the value of his Fort Lewis College education. Once, while interviewing for a job with a mining outfit, he was asked, “How come Fort Lewis geologists are so good underground?”

Whether below ground or above it, the FLC Geosciences Department has built a reputation for preparing graduates for success. Says Chuck, “I know that the Fort Lewis geologist comes out with a better rounded geological education than what I’ve found with all the other geologists I’ve encountered in my career.”

Sincerely,

Dene Thomas, President
