DURANGO – Fort Lewis College is reaching out to multicultural high school students from across the region with Latino College Day. The event begins at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, February 13 at FLC and runs throughout the day.

Led by FLC’s El Centro de Muchos Colores and the Office of Admission, and supported by the Ballantine Family Fund, Latino College Day provides students with an opportunity to experience college life as they meet past, present and future FLC students from a variety of diverse backgrounds. Participants will learn how to apply and be admitted to college, attend a college service fair, a diversity education workshop, and hear addresses from FLC President Dene Thomas, as well as hip-hop artist and social justice advocate Adrian Molina.

Lunch will be provided by FLC, and El Centro de Muchos Colores students and staff will host a homemade dinner. The 5-7 p.m. dinner held at the multicultural center offers prospective students an opportunity to engage with current students and to hear their stories/struggles/successes. Guest speaker Adrian Molina will also attend the dinner before his live public performance, which starts at 7 p.m. in the Student Union Vallecito Room. For more about the guest speaker and performer, visit: www.molinaspeaks.com

Any high school staff interested in having their students participate can pre-register by Friday, Feb. 6 at www.fortlewis.edu/latinocollegeday.  For more information, please contact El Centro de Muchos Colores at (970) 247-7654.
