Men’s basketball caps strong season with NCAA tournament berth

The Skyhawks men’s basketball team finished the 2016-17 season 26-7 overall -- the second most wins in program history, after last season's 28 wins. The Skyhawks rank No. 23 in the NCAA Division II final poll, and rode their success to the semifinal round of the South Central Regional Tournament.

Another high note for the season was guard Joshua Blaylock, who wrapped up his dazzling Skyhawks career with several awards, including the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Player of the Year, the National Association of Basketball Coaches All-South Central Region first team, and National Association of Basketball Coaches All-America First Team honors -- the first Skyhawk to earn NABC All-America honors.

Also, for the second straight season Head Coach Bob Pietrack (Exercise Science, ’04) was named a finalist for the 2017 Red Auerbach Award by the Jewish Coaches Association.
