Nicole Lovato named 2015-16 Miss Hozhoni [VIDEO]

Miss Hozhoni for 2015-16 is Nicole Lovato, a junior Native American & Indigenous Studies major from Santo Domingo Pueblo in New Mexico. Lovato is active with the Native American Center, loves doing outdoor activities, and carries a 4.0 GPA. 

First Attendant is Charine Gonzales, a sophomore English major from San Ildefonso Pueblo, near Santa Fe, New Mexico. She is also a DJ at KDUR.

Second Runner-up is Marquel Begay, a Navajo Tribal member from Black Mesa, Arizona.  Marquel is an Environmental Studies major and is a member of the Native American Outdoor Club.

Third Runner-up is Mariah Gachupin, a senior Gender & Women’s Studies major from Jemez Pueblo in New Mexico. Mariah also is part of the team that puts on the annual Real History of the Americas day and is a founding member of the Pueblo Alliance that formed after the first Pueblo Feast Day held in 2014.

All of these fun, outgoing, and energetic young women are excited at the prospect of representing the Wanbli Ota student organization and Fort Lewis College in the coming year.
