Rep. Tipton honors Jeff Kuss family at Fort Lewis College

Members of the Jeff Kuss family recently met with U.S. Representative Scott Tipton and Fort Lewis College President Dene Thomas. Rep. Tipton presented the family with a flag that flew over the state capitol, as well as a congressional record in their son’s honor.

Jeff (Economics, ’06), a FLC alumnus and pilot with the Blue Angels, was killed in June during a practice flight. Rep. Tipton (Political Science, ’78), a FLC alumnus himself, honored Jeff with remarks made to the U.S. House of Representatives on June 15.

In part, Rep. Tipton said, “The entire Durango community is incredibly proud of Captain Kuss for his service to our nation and what he was able to achieve. When he was brought home to rest in Durango citizens lined the streets to pay their respects to this fallen hero, a testament to Captain Kuss’ service, deep ties to the community and a life well-lived. The host of active duty members that have and continue to pay tribute to Captain Kuss are a tribute to the many lives he impacted over the course of his career.”
