Steve Short reappointed to the Board of Trustees for Fort Lewis College

Doug Lyon reappointed to CollegeInvest and John Anderson as a CCHE Commissioner

Steve Short has been reappointed to the Board of Trustees for Fort Lewis College. The reappointment became official after he was confirmed by the Colorado Senate on February 16, 2016.

“I am pleased that we will get to keep Steve Short as a trustee,” says FLC President Dene Thomas. “He is a steady and thoughtful leader, and I’m looking forward to working with him in the future.”

Mr. Short is a native of the Durango area, having worked at First National Bank of Durango since 1983. He took on the role of president of First National in 2000 and later became the bank’s chairman of the board.

He has served on the boards of the FLC Foundation, the La Plata County Fair, Mercy Health Foundation, and the La Plata Economic Development Partnership. His new appointment to the Board of Trustees for Fort Lewis College runs through December 2019.

In addition to Mr. Short, FLC Senior Corporate & Foundation Officer Doug Lyon was reappointed to the CollegeInvest Board of Directors. CollegeInvest is a division of the Colorado Department of Higher Education that helps students with financial planning and offers special 529 college savings plans.

Durango local, John Anderson, was also reappointed as a commissioner for the Colorado Commission on Higher Education. Mr. Anderson is a member of the Professional Associates for Fort Lewis College, the former president and CEO of New American Schools, and a partner with the education consulting group, Schoolhouse Partners.
