Undergraduate Research Symposium is FLC’s biggest day for student research

On Thursday, April 24, one of the largest research showcases in the Four Corners region will take place at Fort Lewis College’s Undergraduate Research Symposium. Stemming from the College’s recent formation of the School of Arts & Sciences, both artistic and scientific projects will be part of the symposium. The event is free and the public is encouraged to attend.

Science students will present their projects and findings from 12:30-5:15 p.m. in the Student Union Vallecito Room. From 1-5 p.m., students in the arts will perform in Roshong Recital Hall. The day will culminate in the Student Union Ballroom with a reception and poster presentations from 6-7:30 p.m. 

Some might not equate heavy-duty research with a liberal arts institution like Fort Lewis College, but the fact is that research is a cornerstone of an FLC education. FLC professors are nationally recognized for their own scientific and artistic contributions, and students have the opportunity to work directly with these professors on their own research projects. The results offer important additions to the scientific and artistic communities, as well as invaluable experience for students as they continue on to graduate school and a career.
