Update on Animas River spill's impact on Fort Lewis College

There is no threat to Fort Lewis College’s water supply as a result of the Gold King Mine spill into the Animas River.

  • Water used for drinking, cooking and cleaning is being drawn from a separate source that is uncontaminated by the spill.
  • Irrigation water used to water the grounds is being drawn from a storage pond on campus, which is also clear of any contamination.

Campus is open and operating. We look forward to the beginning of the school year on August 31.
