Subjects: Petroglyphs--Photographs; Montrose County (Colo.)
Notes: Large boulder with a relatively flat face that has numerous petroglyphs etched into its surface. There are numerous geometric shapes and animals. Some animals may be bighorn sheep and deer.A hand-written sign placed near the bottom of the rock says, "Indian Hieroglyphics Shavano Valley Montrose Co Col" Shavano Valley Rock Art Site is listed on the State and National Register of Historic Places. The site contains numerous rock art panels that date from at least 1000 B.C. through approximately 1881. Two numbers written on sleeve 1223 and (more recently) 356
