Subjects: Petroglyphs--Photographs; Montrose County (Colo.)
Notes: Rock art panel depicting some deer or elk and possibly some bear paw prints. There are also some serpentine like lines. The petroglyphs may have been chalked so that they were easier to photograph. This practice is no longer allowed. Shavano Valley Rock Art Site is listed on the State and National Register of Historic Places. The site contains numerous rock art panels that date from at least 1000 B.C. through approximately 1881. Two numbers written on sleeve 1420 and (more recently) 430. Also typed on sleeve is "Pictures split rock at Picture Rocks Shavano"
