Excavation in Borrow Pit No. 1 in vicinity of station 47+00/121+50. Dragline is making about an 8-foot cut in straight clay for the downstream No. 2 section, The shovel is making about a 10-foot cut, mixing 5 feet of clay with 5 feet of the underlying sand and gravel for the upstream No. 2 section. It is intended that another 4-foot cut will be made in the gravelly material on the floor of the pit to be used in the No. 3 section. |
