Notes: Photo of several Tohono O'Odham men covering a large pit with dirt for the process of making charcoal from mesquite while a number of other men look on. The men are shoveling dirt onto a pile that has several pipes coming out of the buried pit. A pile of mesquite logs can be seen in the foreground of the image with a man resting his foot on a log. This project is to make charcoal from mesquite commercially and was a community enterprise.
