A great education is priceless; nevertheless, it still costs money. We keep our tuition and fees as low as possible at FLC, and for most students, college financing involves a combination of financial aid, scholarships, and family contribution.
To determine eligibility for federal financial aid, complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). In addition to eligibility, this will determine the amount of financial aid you receive, and whether some of that aid will be in the form of work study.
Students at FLC have access to a variety of scholarships. Institutional and merit scholarships (e.g. the Presidential Scholarship or the New Mexico Reciprocal Scholarship) are automatically applied during the admission and enrollment process. Foundation, departmental, and alumni scholarships require that you apply specifically for them. We use a centralized application for these scholarships. There is also support for Native American students, including the Native American Tuition Waiver, and athletic scholarships for cycling and other programs.
As you (or your family) complete the FAFSA, you will establish the Expected Family Contribution (EFC). Based on reported family income, this is the amount that your family is expected to contribute toward your college expenses. The amount of federal financial aid you may receive takes your EFC into account.
Payment plans are available to distribute the family contribution into 3 or 4 payments. Payment option details are available from Student Billing.
Additionally, take a look at our Housing and Student Billing websites for information to help you plan for college expenses.
