Nicaragua 2014 - Present Nicaragua is in Central America, south of Honduras and north of Costa Rica. It is the second poorest country in the Western Hemisphere, just after Haiti. VAP works in the Municipality of Jalapa, located in north central Nicaragua, near the Honduran border. VAP has formed a close working partnership with the municipal government of Jalapa in the department (state) of Nuevo Segovia and Agua Para la Vida (APLV), a Nicaraguan NGO that performs similar work with water and sanitation.
