Fresh, local produce

Support the Old Fort and get a great deal on local produce. Your household will receive one share a week of selecting the field’s best produce valued at about $30/week.

Seasons

  • The Main Season — from late June into October.
  • The Peak Season — from early August into October.
  • The Fall Season — larger monthly shares beginning in October.

Pick up your produce

Pickup spots include the Old Fort Farm Stand on campus and the Old Fort Country Store in Hesperus.

Our philosophy

Our CSA, filled with produce from the Education Garden, Farmer-In-Training Plot, and incubator farms, supports numerous young farmers. At 7600 feet elevation, we specialize in greens, herbs, roots, and peppers, partnering with others for peak-summer tomatoes.

We aim for a diverse vegetable selection in each CSA season, balancing staple crops like carrots, salad mix, onions, and red radishes with novel varieties like kohlrabi, fennel, or Napa cabbage. These new additions, chosen for their suitability to our climate, taste, and health benefits, are part of our commitment to expanding your palate and enhancing your CSA experience.

Land Acknowledgement 

We acknowledge the land that the Old Fort is situated upon is the ancestral land and territory of the Nuuchiu (Ute) people who were forcibly removed by the United States Government. We also acknowledge that this land is connected to the communal and ceremonial spaces of the Jicarilla Abache (Apache), Pueblos of New Mexico, Hopi Sinom (Hopi), and Diné (Navajo) Nations.

The Old Fort and Fort Lewis College are committed to reconciling their history as a federal Indian Boarding School from 1892 to 1909.
