Students must successfully complete the CO1 and MA1 requirements of the Liberal Arts Core by the time they earn 45 credits in courses numbered 100 or higher at Fort Lewis College. Click here to read the full text of the policy.
Successful completion of CO1 is defined as being placed at matriculation into the CO2-CO3 composition sequence; earning a grade of C- or better in Comp 150 at Fort Lewis College; establishing Comp 150 has been completed with a grade of C- or better at another institution via submission of an official transcript; establishing completion of Comp 150 through approved credit-by-exam procedures, or being approved for a waiver of the Liberal Arts Core.
Successful completion of MA1 is defined as establishing completion of an MA1 course by earning a grade of D- or better in an MA1 course at Fort Lewis College; establishing an MA1 course has been completed with a grade of C- or better at another institution via submission of an official transcript; establishing completion of an MA1 course through approved credit-by-exam procedures, or being approved for a waiver of the Liberal Arts Core.
Students in violation of the policy will be dropped from all courses and will receive a registration hold that will allow them to register only for composition and mathematics courses appropriate to their placement until they have successfully completed the CO1 and MA1 requirement or are approved upon appeal.
