In 1998, Jonathan Lamb (Studio Art, ’02) left his midwestern roots and moved to Durango to attend Fort Lewis College. Fort Lewis was an easy choice.” At FLC, Lamb connected with the late Mick Reber, professor emeritus of Fine Art. Lamb recalled a summer when Reber took students on a plein air painting field trip to Lake Powell and Monument Valley. Lamb said the experience turned his artistic inclinations into a serious endeavor. “Having a professor who I connected with, and who I could dialogue with, was everything,” Lamb said. “I would go to his office and get real, honest critiques of my art.” Lamb rounded out his liberal arts education with business courses, which he said prepared him to operate the professional side of being an artist. In 2014, he met his future wife, Lindsey, in Denver. Under the moniker Lindz and Lamb, the duo paints, creates, curates, and manages art projects through their joint venture LKMNDD or Like Minded Productions. LKMNDD is a thriving arts activation organization that focuses on taking art out of galleries and “to the people,” from creating murals on a global scale to printing large-format fine art pieces for local artists. Lamb said he looks forward to returning to Durango someday soon and creating art for the community that encouraged his career. “I think it’s important to leave my mark and contribute to the creative fabric of the places that have inspired me,” he said. “I’m so proud of the education I received at the Fort. I had personal attention from my art and business professors. I left with an education that enabled me to run a business and pursue my art. You definitely get out what you put in.” Find more of Lamb’s work and story at lindzandlamb.com.
