Candace Nadon is an associate professor in the Department of English at Fort Lewis College. She joined the college in 2013. Dr. Nadon has published fiction, nonfiction and lyric essays in journals such as The Fourth River, Platte Valley Review, and Dogwood: A Journal of Poetry and Prose and worked as a freelance editor. At Fort Lewis, she organizes a poetry reading for students in creative writing classes once a semester and works as a tutor for students seeking master’s degrees in educational leadership. She taught at Georgia State University while earning her doctorate. Prior to pursuing her doctoral education, Dr. Nadon taught Advanced Placement English, creative writing and literature at the high school level and at a primary school for gifted children.
Dr. Nadon was an Advanced Teaching Fellow and Virginia Spencer Carr Fellow at Georgia State University. She was a finalist in the Colony Collapse Press Novella Competition (2014) and the Palooka Press Chapbook Competition (2014).
Dr. Nadon is currently writing a novel focused on the lives of three generations of women in the contemporary Western United States and a collection of short essays about growing up in rural Western Colorado. She is also developing a collection of Creative Writing exercises for the undergraduate writing workshop.
