JSF is dedicated to creating paths to brighter futures

Through the Indigenous Peoples Program, JSF provides scholarships to Indigenous students who study business or entrepreneurship. The Katz School of Business at FLC has received a grant from JSF to offer scholarships to business majors who qualify for the Native American Tuition Waiver. Funds are limited, and recipients will be selected by a committee based on meeting minimum eligibility criteria plus the quality of documents submitted.

Scholarship criteria for Native students:

  • Must be eligible for the Native American Tuition Waiver.
  • Must be enrolled as a full-time business major.
  • Must have obtained Junior or Senior class standing.
  • Must have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher.
  • Must have a current FAFSA with the Financial Aid Office and demonstrate financial need.
  • Scholarship recipients are strongly encouraged to become, if not already, active members of American Indigenous Business Leaders (AIBL).
  • Other information that may be considered: academic history, financial aid application, and financial situation, disciplinary records at the institution.

Awards

  • Students with cumulative GPAs above 2.0 and below 3.0 will be eligible to receive $4,000 for the 2024-2025 academic year.
  • Students with cumulative GPAs of 3.0 or higher will be eligible to receive $6,000 for the 2024-2025 academic year.
  • Juniors can reapply to be considered for their scholarships renewed for their Senior year.
  • Seniors requiring additional time to graduate can reapply to be considered to have their scholarships renewed.
  • Scholarships are not awarded for summer terms.

Application process

Within the application form, you will be asked to upload the following required documents as a single PDF file.

Application opens: Monday, August 19, 2024
Deadline: Friday, September 13, 2024 

  • A one-page personal statement discussing what motivates you, how you will develop into a business and/or entrepreneurship leader, and your plans for the future after graduation.
  • Unofficial transcripts from all colleges and/or universities attended.
  • One letter of recommendation from a faculty member or business community member who can speak to your personal qualities and capabilities for success.
