Biomedical Research 'Zoom Lunch'

Learn about summer research opportunities in Genome Sciences at the University of Washington.

January 21, 2025

1:00 PM - 2:00 PM

Undergraduate Research Center (Reed 133)

The National Institutes of Health provides funding for undergraduates who are interested in a variety of health-related fields to carry out research under the guidance of mentors at Research 1 (R1) universities.  These so-called "Research Experiences for Undergraduates" or REUs often provide:

  • Travel to and from the site
  • $5,000 - $7,000 stipends
  • Housing
  • Food
  • Professional development
  • Cohort with other students

Biomedical research is important because it helps us understand the molecular basis of:

  • Cancer
  • Diabetes
  • Immune function
  • Genetic diseases
  • Neuroscience
  • Cardiovascular disease
  • Gene expression
  • Metabolic dysregulation
  • And more!

Join us for lunch in the Undergraduate Research Center and learn about opportunities that are available this summer in Genome Sciences at the University of Washington.  Joshua Cuperus and Christine Queitsch will join us via Zoom to tell us about their awesome program.
