Spring Symposium & Awards Gala

An all-day event celebrating student research, design and creative activities!

The Undergraduate Research Spring Symposium provides students an opportunity to give oral and poster presentations about their scholarly work and is followed by an Awards Gala where we celebrate outstanding student researchers.  This event is happening on Thursday, April 24th this year.  The whole campus and wider community is invited to participate!  Join us throughout the day and come to the gala where we will watch student TED-like talks, see the debut of this year's Scholars' Video, and recognize the 2025 UGR Scholar Award winners.

Approximate schedule: 

  • 9:00 am to 9:45 am Kickoff in the CO Room w/breakfast
  • 9:45 am to 10:45 am Poster Session A, Student Union Ballroom
  • 11:00 am to Noon Oral Presentation Session 1, Noble 130, Chem130, Senate Chambers
  • 12:15 pm to 1:15 pm Poster Session B, Student Union Ballroom w/ lunch
  • 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm Oral Presentation Session 2, Noble 130, Chem130, Senate Chambers
  • 2:45 pm to 3:45 pm Oral Presentation Session 3, Noble 130, Chem130, Senate Chambers
  • 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm Gala: Student TED-like talks, Scholar Video & Awards, Main Stage of the FLC Theatre w/ drinks & appetizers at the end

Oral presentations

Each department can select two students to give oral presentations; Christine will reach out to chairs to get the names of these students.  The students are invited to participate in multiple "Communicating Your Research" public speaking workshops.  Talks last 10 minutes with 1-2 minutes for questions. 

Poster presentations

Students who would like to present a poster, please submit the form below by Thursday, April 17th. This will reserve an easel, poster board, and spot for you at the event. Our office will let you know by Monday April 21st which session you are in.  Visit our UGR Canvas for information on how to create & print a poster at FLC.

Note: You must be logged into MS Office & FLC CAS to complete the submission.
