As Associate Provost, Pete supports and oversees Curriculum and Scheduling, including aligning the curriculum and scheduling with Workday implementation. He also works with the Provost and Deans to align scheduling and curriculum with staffing needs and budget management.
Pete serves as a liaison with the Higher Learning Commission, working on compliance and reaffirmation, and is a member of the Colorado Department of Higher Education’s General Education Council, which includes GTPathways courses, administration and policy, and articulation agreements.
Lastly, Pete is the point person for strategic partnerships for Academic Affairs, including those with large federal organizations (such as San Juan National Forest and the Environmental Protection Agency) and other higher education institutions (such as the University of Colorado and the University of Denver).
Pete has been an Environment & Sustainability Department professor at FLC since 2003. His research interests include cultural geography and cultural/political ecology, sense of place, landscape change and land use, and the American Southwest/Southern Plains region.
