Fort Lewis College is a member of the Colorado Higher Education Insurance Benefits Alliance (CHEIBA). CHEIBA membership includes 8 colleges across Colorado. This partnership allows us to pool resources, offer premium plan packages, and share experience ratings across a larger population. Benefits-eligible faculty and administrative professional (exempt) staff (.5 FTE and above) are eligible for benefits effective on their first day of employment with FLC. Open enrollment occurs every November, with changes taking effect on January 1 of the following plan year.
Faculty and exempt staff must enroll in CHEIBA's group health and dental insurance and are automatically enrolled in group term life insurance and long-term disability benefits. Medical coverage may only be waived with proof of other group medical coverage. Automatic enrollment helps keep costs lower for everyone and remains a successful strategy within the CHEIBA strategic business plan.
For any questions regarding employee benefits at Fort Lewis College, please contact the benefits administrator in the Office of Human Resources.

Before you can use Colorado Paid Family Leave, it must be certified by Human Resources.
In November 2020, Colorado voters approved Proposition 118, paving the way for a state-run FAMLI program. FAMLI ensures all Colorado workers have access to paid leave to care for themselves or family members during major life events.
