The two-day New Employee Campus Orientation is Thursday, January 9 from 8:30 a.m. - 2 p.m. and Friday, January 10 from 8:30 a.m. to noon. Lunch is provided on Day 1 and a continental breakfast is provided on Day 2 of the orientation program. Registration is open! Please RSVP for the day/s you are able to attend so we have an accurate count for the catering order.

The orientation program was developed by the HR team as a part of our onboarding process. We recognize that there is so much to learn on a new job, not only about the work, but also about culture and organizational procedures. We are committed to help new employees succeed in their new roles and desire to support them as much as possible.

The purpose of this orientation is to build community among new employees, to learn more about Fort Lewis College, and to explore key campus essentials from various department representatives.

Orientation presentations include:

  • FLC History & Core Essentials
  • DEI Essentials
  • Admissions Overview
  • Marketing & Communications Overview
  • Title IX & Campus Security Essentials
  • IT & Help Desk Essentials
  • Finance Essentials
  • Student Housing
  • Alumni Engagement
  • Campus Involvement Opportunities
  • And More!
  • Note: A delicious, relaxed complimentary lunch is included on Day 1 and a light breakfast is included on Day 2.

If you are unable to attend this month, you are welcome to participate in a future orientation date. Orientation is typically held in January, May, August, and October. We recognize that there may be employees hired in the past year or two who would benefit from this orientation, so as space allows, we invite anyone who would like to participate to register via the buttons below.

We greatly appreciate and encourage faculty and supervisors to support and prioritize this orientation for new employees. According to Human Resources Management Institute, formal onboarding increases the chance of keeping a new employee for at least 3 years by 69%. Feedback we received from previous participants conveyed that New Employee Orientation was "very much time well spent" and what they learned was "definitely helpful and immediately applicable."
