Shoutouts

Allison has worked countless 10-hour days and weekends to prepare the Student Housing assignment process. She has facilitated and created a system that is equitable and provides communication quickly. Due to the high student retention, she has also incorporated a waitlist. She is amazing. Her job is tough, and she always does it with a smile and a customer service heart.

Amy and Kami were able to simultaneously provide a full waste inventory with a full chemical inventory and went over and above to do so. This will greatly increase lab safety for the entire department and its faculty and students.

Ben is doing an incredible job of managing all the Workday changes and everyone like me who need answers ALL THE TIME. He's timely, friendly, creative with solutions, optimistic, and kind. And he explains things incredibly well. I marked "safety awareness" because if it weren't for Ben's help, I'd surely have dents in my head from where I bang it on my desk all dang day.

Brian
There was recently a work order for a tripped outlet in Bader. After Brian determined it was not the outlet but the fridge itself, he helped the custodian take the broken fridge out and helped bring the new fridge up to the suite from the storage area, which he did not have to do. It is this teamwork between departments that make the culture up here so great, and Brian is a valuable asset to the campus.

Bryce
On more than one occasion, Bryce has come to the rescue when AV issues arise. Whether it was a change in service request, a moment of "how do I do this?!", or something in-between, he shows up, even if it means rearranging his schedule. Thanks for making people feel confident during their events!

Cristian spent a great deal of time fine-tuning a student survey that will facilitate the Katz School of Business to make student-centered decisions. He has been a great help in developing and fine-tuning the survey.

Liz Cartier goes beyond for student advisees, often putting extra work and effort to answer student questions. In addition, she provides substantial service work and representation for Katz.

Felipe
After my MacBook was re-imaged, Felipe was able to recover my data, set up aliases, download software, and otherwise get me back on my digital feet. And all this was done with patience, professionalism, and a sense of humor. Thanks!

Fiona was a crucial team member for Summer Academy 2024. Her ability to see what needs to be completed and take it on, along with her continued dedication to this position and the students that she serves, is greatly appreciated.

Frank goes above and beyond in his duties as part of the structural department in PPS. Whether it's structural maintenance or painting, Frank is a consummate professional with a positive attitude. He is a great member of this community and an asset to the culture of Fort Lewis.

Jake
I recently asked Jake if he could trim the branches that were hanging down too low on the sidewalk between West and Cooper. The next morning, he was out there early and did a wonderful job so the students can have a clear pathway to their buildings. I have already seen the student’s appreciation, so thank you, Jake!

Jimmy
The Skyhawk Station typically has three Specialists, but this summer we have been down to one. Jimmy has done an awesome job of managing this time of being understaffed by putting in a lot of hours and never hesitating to jump in and help any way he can.

Lainey and Tyler
I had an issue in the storage area of Snyder A. After contacting Lainey for assistance, she and her assistant, Tyler, were quickly over there and got the issue resolved while maintaining a positive attitude even though we are all so busy this time of year getting ready for the school term. Lainey is a wonderful team member and a valuable asset to the campus.

Lily came to FLC with enthusiasm and lots of experience for an entry-level professional. She increased all hall programming during the Spring semester. Lily collaborated and worked with Events and Summer Conferences to ensure Student Housing was ready to host summer conferences. We are lucky she's here!

Lori has been tirelessly working these last months to make sure that our transfer and returning students get their credits evaluated and into our new system. A new system will always present challenges, no matter what, and despite those challenges, Lori's work ethic and tireless devotion to our student's success has been evident. Thank you for all you've done, Lori!

Lori is so incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. She answers questions in the MS Teams chat after 9pm and I sure hope she gets some rest sometime soon. I want her and the team to know how much we appreciate them and all they do. Until I joined the Teams chat, I was unaware of the amount of work they are filing through and the odd hours they complete it. Many hugs to all those folks and FLC is lucky to have them.

Matt has been a wonderful boss--helping and guiding our new staff in a great direction! So happy to be on his staff!

Mic and Matt have done a tremendous job completing work orders campus-wide to ensure residential halls, classrooms, and events are set up and ready for our students and staff. Your hard work, positive attitude, and continued support and help are appreciated. Thanks for going above and beyond to support FLC.

Nick was able to inventory all the Chemistry department chemicals very efficiently. We identified the waste and are removing it. Chemistry is much safer now thanks to Nick.

Paige taught an amazing painting class during TRIO Summer Academy. Her ability to transform and make new student worksheets and forms is impressive. I appreciate her dedication and enthusiasm for this position and the students she serves.

PPS Housing Custodial Department
During this challenging summer, the PPS Housing Custodial department has been exceptional with their work ethic and their ability to adapt to the numerous challenges that have been given to them. They have done an amazing job ensuring that the residence halls are ready for the early arrivals and incoming students all while maintaining a positive attitude. If you see a custodian on your travels around campus, please make sure to thank them for their dedication and hard work to the campus!

Rachel has helped with my questions while the Library is without an admin assistant. She is kind, knowledgeable, and generous with her time and expertise.

Scott has helped the Advancement Office out of pickles on many occasions. If a website is down, a link is broken, or we need to pivot for a donor, Scott always responds quickly to help. We value and appreciate that he does this for us—because having a broken link or a form that doesn't work can break trust quickly. Scott frequently is available to create pages and put-up forms for us.

Sydney has only been at FLC for 7 months, but she has dedicated her time to restoring NRHH and keeping RHA programs going strong for our students living in the Residence Halls. This summer she took on extra duties for RA training.
