The top floor of Reed Library, where this large tile map of the Southwest is still located, housed the Center of Southwest Studies from 1967 until the opening of the new Center in its own building in 2001. The Center of Southwest Studies was founded in June of 1964 with a financial gift from the Ballantine family and the approval of the State Board of Agriculture on June 19, 1964. Each tile on this map represents four miles. |
