On Sunday, February 9, Fort Lewis College will host College Goal Sunday. The aim is to connect students interested in college and their families with financial aid professionals. The event offers guidance on ways to pay for college, specifically how to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), which is a crucial step in the college planning process. College Goal Sunday is free, open to everyone, and will take place from 1-3 p.m. in Reed Library on campus.
The FAFSA must be completed for a student to receive any type of financial aid, including grants, work study, student loans and even many scholarships. Students should submit their FAFSA as early as they can in the year to receive as much financial aid as possible.
Families are encouraged to bring their 2013 or 2012 federal tax records and social security numbers to ensure they can work through the FAFSA during the time they have with financial aid experts.
