DURANGO – On Saturday, February 16 Fort Lewis College will offer College Goal Saturday. The aim is to provide families with free professional guidance on ways to pay for college, specifically how to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), which is a crucial step in the college planning process. College Goal Saturday is free, open to everyone, and will take place from 1-3 p.m. in Reed Library on campus.
The FAFSA must be completed for a student to receive any type of financial aid, including grants, work study, student loans and even many scholarships. Students are encouraged to submit their FAFSA as early as they can in the year to receive as much financial aid as possible.
Families are encouraged to bring their 2012 federal tax records and social security numbers to ensure they can work through the FAFSA during the time they have with financial aid experts.
