Running throughout the month of February, Fort Lewis College will host and help staff a site for Tax Help Colorado. Sponsored by the Piton Foundation and Colorado’s colleges and universities, Tax Help Colorado offers free income tax preparation for households making less than $50,000 per year.

To take advantage of this free service, visit Fort Lewis College’s Education Business Hall, Rm. 30 on Saturdays between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. or Wednesdays between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. anytime from February 1 through March 1, 2014. Parking on campus is free during those times.

IRS-certified college students and staff guide the tax preparation. Fort Lewis College will have 21 of its students participating in this service. In 2012, nearly 9,500 taxpayers filed with the assistance of Tax Help Colorado. Those taxpayers were able to claim $18.5 million in refunds.
