The Skyhawkalypse is upon us! Fort Lewis College Homecoming 2012 begins October 1 and runs through the 6th, culminating with the Homecoming Football game against Colorado School of Mines. For the last three years, Homecoming has been planned and executed by a committee of dedicated and hardworking students, and the event has grown each year as a result.
Events are planned for every day of Homecoming week that tie into this year’s student-selected theme: Skyhawkalypse. Back for another year are Mudd Football, the Homecoming Movie (Zombieland), and the ever popular Homecoming Dance. New for 2012 is the Zolf tournament, a Frisbee golf event with a Skyhawkalypse twist.
The ages old Homecoming Parade (6 p.m., Main Ave, Durango) and Bonfire (8 p.m., FLC Softball Complex) on Friday evening and the Tailgate Party prior to the football game on Saturday are also on tap. Community members are invited to create their own float and join in the fun before enjoying the biggest bonfire in town.
