FLC Hall of Fame quarterback to offer address at Commencement ceremonies

FLC Athletic Hall of Fame Member
John Chisholm ('76)
John Chisholm (’76), a member of the Fort Lewis College Athletic Hall of Fame, will offer the Commencement Address at FLC’s Commencement ceremonies on Saturday, May 3, 2014. Two ceremonies will be held to accommodate the more than 500 graduates and their families, the first beginning at 8:30 a.m. and the second at 11:30 a.m. Both ceremonies will be held in Whalen Gym. Mr. Chisholm played quarterback for the Fort Lewis College Football team (then nicknamed the Raiders) from 1972-75. His senior year, he earned National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Academic All-America honors and was a NAIA All-America honorable mention. That same year, he was named a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Honor Scholar-Athlete and earned a spot on the Academic All-RMAC squad. He did all that in a season that saw him finish as the second leading passer in the NAIA District VII.

After graduating from Fort Lewis College with a degree in business administration, Mr. Chisholm nearly made it to the NFL, lasting until the final cut for the Philadelphia Eagles prior to the 1976 season.

Switching gears from football, Mr. Chisholm began a career as a successful businessman that has lasted to this day. He founded several companies over the years and was chosen as Entrepreneur of the Year in Houston, Texas, in 1995. In 2012, he was chosen by ExecRank as CEO of the Year from a pool of over 5,000 small cap companies. He is currently the chairman of the board, chief executive officer and president of Flotek Industries, a company that produces equipment for the energy industry.

At Fort Lewis College, Mr. Chisholm also met his wife and FLC alumna, Terry (’76). The couple has two children: Brandy and Brett.
