There will be something new and historic at Fort Lewis College’s Spring Commencement 2015. For the first time in more than a century of existence as a public educational institution, FLC will award master’s degrees alongside its undergraduate degrees.
The Master of Arts in Education, Teacher Leadership Option was created in 2012, the first graduate degree ever offered at Fort Lewis College. On Saturday, May 2, at the second of two Commencement ceremonies, 24 students who made it through the two-year master’s program will be honored with their degrees. The second ceremony begins at 11:30 a.m.
More than 450 FLC students, both undergraduate and graduate, will take part in the Commencement ceremonies. The first ceremony begins at 8:30 a.m. Both ceremonies take place in Whalen Gym.
Addressing Fort Lewis College’s newest alumni at both ceremonies will be U.S. Senator Michael Bennet. Senator Bennet is a champion of education and of Fort Lewis College. Through his leadership the College continues to seek federal support for FLC’s Native American Tuition Waiver program.
Both Commencement ceremonies will be live streamed on YouTube. The videos can be found on the Fort Lewis College YouTube Channel (www.youtube.com/flcdurango) or through these direct links:
