Undergraduate Research Symposium showcases the best of the best of student research

Interested in the “Locus of Control and Life Orientation in Relation to Attitudes Toward Gun Laws” or want to know about “Confirming Exoplanets using the Fort Lewis Observatory”? What about “The Effect of Superfund on Post-Industrial Communities: An Analysis of Geographic Identity” or “Regulation of miR-132 Expression and Viral Entry in MRC-5 Cells via HCMV Infection and Ganciclovir Administration”?

These and many other research topics will be presented and discussed at the 2016 Fort Lewis College Undergraduate Research Symposium on Thursday, April 21. Oral presentations from students will begin at 8 a.m. in the Student Union Vallecito Room and go until 1 p.m. At 1:30, the oral presentations continue in Roshong Recital Hall in Jones Hall, concluding at 6 p.m. The evening ends with poster displays of all the projects in the Student Union Ballroom from 6-7:30 p.m. All are welcome anytime at this free event.

One of the cornerstones of a Fort Lewis College education is the opportunity for students to do real world research. With FLC professors as mentors, these students choose topics from the arts and sciences that drive them. In their search for answers and understanding, FLC students do graduate-level research, often presenting their findings at professional conferences all over the world.

The annual Undergraduate Research Symposium is the celebration that brings all these research projects together for the community to join in the conversation.
