(she/her/hers)
I was born in Durango and lived there most of my life. I spent a short time in Phoenix, Arizona, which I loved, but ultimately moved back to be closer to family and friends. I recently moved to Bayfield, which is great because I have a small new community, but I still get to be a part of the Durango community.
Because of my past and the good and bad that come with life, I decided to pursue my Master's in Social Work. I began by working with Misfit Counseling. Misfit is a counseling center for those who have received a DUI, DWAI, etc. They lead group therapy and education entirely online. I helped lead groups and worked with many incredible people. My journey is different than most. I have navigated many years of college with many years of breaks. I have learned through my education that everyone's journey is different, and I aim to help each person navigate their path in life in a comfortable way.
I aim to be a safe space that is nonjudgemental, compassionate, multiculturally informed, and welcoming. This area is special in many ways. The college is an excellent place for gathering many different clans, ethnicities, races, genders, sexualities, and groups, so I am excited to start my journey here.
Durango has many incredible outdoor activities; the greatness of outdoor sports helps many others find solace and peace in Durango's calming everyday life. I love the outdoors but cannot ski, snowboard, or kayak; I see my love for the outdoors walking, hiking, or tubing down the river. I love the outdoors and believe it can be healing in many ways. I am here to connect each individual with what they feel is beneficial, whether outdoors, indoors, or with a group of people.
My focus has been on youth and young adults, but opening myself up to a more diverse population has proven more instrumental in helping others. I am here to ensure that everyone experiences the benefits of having people fully believe and trust in them through healthy therapeutic relationships. I am excited to be a part of your journey through life and higher education!
