Fall and Winter Break 2024

As a reminder, all campus housing will remain open during Fall Break (November 22-December 1) for students who wish to remain on campus. If you plan to stay, please register with us by November 15.

Register to stay over Fall Break

Important Information:

  • RAs will be on call starting 8:00 p.m. on Friday, November 22 through 8:00am, Monday, December 2nd.
  • Dining Hours (San Juan Dining Hall):
    • 11/22: 7:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m.
    • 11/23-11/24: Brunch 10:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m., Dinner 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m., Late Night 8:00 p.m.- 10:00 p.m.
    • 11/25-11/29: 7:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m.
    • 11/30-12/1: Brunch 10:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. , Dinner 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m., Late Night 8:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.
  • Durango Metro Bus: No service on Thanksgiving Day. Check bus schedule
  • Parking: If you leave your car, park in the South Stadium Lot. Cars left in the residential lots may be towed as Physical Plant may need to plow the lots. Do not store motorcycles in rooms.
  • Bikes: Consider taking your bike home or move it to covered racks at CC Shelter by Bader-Snyders and Talon Lane.

Before Leaving for Break:

  • Lock windows and doors
  • Close blinds or drapes
  • Unplug everything except refrigerators/aquariums
  • Empty trash (to avoid odors and pests)
  • Take valuables with you
  • Turn off lights
  • Suites: Remove items from bathroom counters/showers.

Housing Cancellation Reminder: If not returning for Spring Semester, submit a Housing Cancellation Request by December 1 to avoid fees. This includes if you are transferring, studying abroad, graduating, withdrawing from the College, or taking a semester off.

Winter Break Reminder: Residence Halls close December 13 at 1:00 p.m. Centennial, Mears and The Gauge Apartments remain open. There will be a charge for staff duty coverage during winter break so try to make plans to go home if possible. Students in all other residence halls must check-out with an RA but may leave belongings in their rooms.

If you cannot travel home for Winter Break and don’t have a plan for where to stay, please contact Amanda Pollack, the Community Housing Navigation Coordinator, to set up a meeting to discuss options. You can email Amanda at apollack@fortlewis.edu. Campus housing re-opens on January 11 and 12, 2025 for Spring Semester.

July 27 Compass Program move-in Check-in: Saturday, July 27 from 10:00-11:30 a.m., at Skyhawk Station. 
August 18 PEAK Experiences move-in Check-in: Sunday, August 18 from 9:00 a.m. - Noon in the Ballroom. More details to come from your Program Coordinator. 
August 23 First-year and transfer students move-in Check-in: Friday, August 23 from 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m., at the Student Union Ballroom. You must sign up for a check in time in your Admission Portal. Note the location change.
August 24 & 25 Continuing and returning students move-in Check-in: Saturday, August 24 from 9:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. and Sunday, August 25 from 1:00 - 6:00 p.m. at your Residence Hall.
TBD Pre-season athletes move-in You'll be contacted by your coach regarding your pre-season report date. 
December 13 Move-out Within 24 hours of last final or December 13 by noon at the latest.

Spring 2025

January 9 First-year and transfer students move-in Check-in: Thursday, January 9, check your email in December for instructions to sign up. Check-in will be at Skyhawk Station.
January 11 or 12 Continuing and returning students move-in Check-in: Saturday, January 11 and  Sunday, January 12, time of day TBD, at your Residence Hall.
May 2 Move-out Within 24 hours of last final or May 2 by noon at the latest.

How does the application process work?

All students are assigned housing placements by Fort Lewis College Student Housing.

October 15

Housing application opens at 9 a.m.


 Room placement

What should I expect for the room placement process?

Placements are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis, taking into account your room and hall preferences and the lifestyle questions in the housing application. Your housing assignment and roommate information will be emailed to your Fort Lewis College email address.

Placements will be sent by mid-December.

Housing charges applied to student accounts.

Cancellation deadline

Cancellations received after November 30 are subject to a $100 cancellation fee.


Fall semester

The Fall 2025 housing application is not yet available. Applications will open February 5.


Summer blocks

The Summer 2025 housing application is not yet available. Applications will open March 24. Summer housing is limited, and assigned on a first-come, first-serve basis.
