Understanding our Severe Weather Policy

The Student Union severe weather policy is designed to inform on-campus and off campus guests that need to or plan to utilize the services that the Student Union offers. We discourage anyone from driving in severe weather to campus and to avoid it, if necessary.

If Fort Lewis College Campus Closes Early

  • The Student Union will stay open to accommodate for meal plan holders to utilize the dining facilities and will close no earlier than 7:30 pm
  • All events scheduled after the campus closure will be cancelled or postponed.
  • Administrative office will close when campus is scheduled to close.

If Fort Lewis College Campus Opens Late

  • The Student Union will open no later than 7:30 am to accommodate for meal plan holders to utilize the dining facilities.
  • All scheduled events will commence at the stated opening time the campus designates.
  • Administrative offices will open when campus opens.

If Fort Lewis College Campus is Closed for the Day

  • The Student Union will be open no later than 7:30 am and close no earlier than 7:30 pm to accommodate all meal plan holders to utilize the dining facilities.
  • All scheduled events will be cancelled or postponed.
  • Administrative offices will be closed.
