Food safety begins on the farm Fort Lewis College | Western Extension Risk Management Education In 2011, Fort Lewis College, in conjunction with the Western Center for Risk Management Education, began a program called Managing Risk with Food Safety Education and Good Agricultural Practices (GAPs) Implementation. This project used proactive producer education to address food safety liability that market garden producers encounter while directly marketing their products. We included traditional workshops, on-farm workshops, online training opportunities, and access to educational materials. View project results
