    • If you are driving to the observatory from Durango, and are heading south on Colorado 140, slow down at the "Point of Interest" sign, and make your turn soon after that at the yellow caution sign with the firetruck on it. If you have never been to the observatory before, it is much easier to plan to meet someone at the turn and follow them along the dirt (mud?) roads and know which gates to use.
