Notes: | Petroglyphs etched into a cliff face. There are some that look like animal feet, various symbols and two or three that appear to be an animal climbing a tree. A couple of petroglyphs appear to be cornstalks. Near right side is an upside down rainbow.The petroglyphs may have been chalked so that they were easier to photograph. This practice is no longer allowed. Shavano Valley Rock Art Site is listed on the State and National Register of Historic Places. The site contains numerous rock art panels that date from at least 1000 B.C. through approximately 1881. Two numbers written on sleeve 1223C and (more recently) 435 | |
