Subjects: Petroglyphs--Photographs; Montrose County (Colo.)
Notes: Petroglyphs etched into a cliff face. There are some that look like human hands, various symbols, a star and a human holding a long spear. The word "Montrose 11527" is located near bottom center of the image.The petroglyphs may have been chalked so that they were easier to photograph. This practice is no longer allowed. Shavano Valley Rock Art Site is listed on the State and National Register of Historic Places. The site contains numerous rock art panels that date from at least 1000 B.C. through approximately 1881.
