Notes: A stone obelisk monument in memory of Chief Ouray and Chipeta. An oval-shaped raised-relief portrait of Chief Ouray is placed in the monument. Inscribed words are near the base of the monument. Sagebrush and railroad tracks are also in photo.Monument states, "In Memory of Chief Ouray and Chipeta Erected by the State of Colorado in 1926." One number was written on original sleeve - 9. Also written on original sleeve was "Ouray - Chipeta Monument"
