In 2024, Fort Lewis College embarks on an exciting journey to redefine our impact and shape our future through a new strategic planning process. This initiative is a collective endeavor led by our Strategic Plan Steering Committee, President, Vice Presidents, and Board of Trustees, aimed at capturing the diverse voices of our community and positioning us for success in 2025 and beyond.
We will engage the entire Fort Lewis College community in creating an inclusive, well-informed, comprehensive strategic plan to help us navigate the evolving landscape of higher education, focusing on opportunities for growth, inclusivity, and excellence.
The world has changed significantly since 2019. In response to these shifts, we're committed to a plan that ensure the highest quality education for our students while championing tribal sovereignty and bridging equity gaps.
The Fort Lewis College Board of Trustees approved five strategic directives for a new plan, shaped by input from nearly 850 students, faculty, and staff.

The strategic planning at FLC involves everyone in the community and our partners. You can share your opinions, ideas, worries, and hopes through various channels like surveys, focus groups, design sprints, and forums.
The Strategic Planning Steering Committee, led by Alana Romans and consultant Cass Walker Harvey, will draft the plan. The FLC Board of Trustees and the President will have the final say on the strategic directions and content.
The Strategic Plan Steering Committee, or SPSC, will represent Fort Lewis College to ensure a transparent, fair, and deliberate planning process. This diverse group includes faculty, staff, students, and leaders, working together to involve everyone on campus.
The SPSC will use their knowledge and skills to develop a forward-looking Strategic Plan, manage coordination, give feedback, and brainstorm ideas. The Committee will also gather and analyze input from key campus groups, shaping the Plan's direction.

Our Reconciliation Framework is a vital tool for guiding decisions at all stages of the strategic planning process, from gathering data to conducting focus groups to drafting the plan.
We're committed to viewing every aspect through the lens of reconciliation to ensure it remains central to our decision-making.
We'll be gathering feedback from the FLC community through various methods including SOAR, Like a Skyhawk, listening sessions, focus groups, storytelling nights, and design sprints.
