Filing note: the records received as a group for Series 11.D.1 were processed, for the most part, with respect to the archival principle of retaining records with their office of origin. Thus, generally the records maintained by the top administration of the Fort Lewis junior college were filed in Series 11.D.1.  However, if an individual document pertained to the policies, procedures, or (notably) the program development of a given office or department and was the only copy available, it was separated out from Series 11.D.1 and was filed in the College Archives with the other records of that office or department.  The correspondence that was retained in Series 11.D.1 is arranged by name of administrator (i.e., Mr. Bader, Mr. McLean, etc.), and within that arrangement the correspondence to and from that administrator is grouped by the name of the person or institution with whom the administrator was communicating.

(see Series 20.2 for Business Office correspondence dated after 1962 June 30; Business Manager Dan Black's correspondence prior to 1962 June 30 is in Series 11.D.1, but his correspondence after that date is in Series 20.2)
