Prerequisites

Before you can access your resources, you'll need to meet the prerequisites.

• Internet access.
• A device running one of the following supported versions of Windows:
  • Windows 11
  • Windows 10

If you are on an FLC owned Windows computer the Remote Desktop Application should already be installed and available for you to use. If this is the case, you can skip the install process and follow the “Subscribe to a workspace” instructions to use the Remote Apps environment.

Download and install the Remote Desktop client

1. Download the Remote Desktop client installer, choosing the correct version for your device:
   • Windows 64-bit  (Most Common)
   • Windows 32-bit
   • Windows ARM64
2. Run the installer by double-clicking the file you downloaded.
3. On the welcome screen, select Next.
4. To accept the end-user license agreement, check the box for I accept the terms in the License Agreement, then select Next.
5. For the Installation Scope, select one of the following options:
   • Install just for you: Remote Desktop will be installed in a per-user folder and be available just for your user account. You don't need local Administrator privileges.
   • Install for all users of this machine: Remote Desktop will be installed in a per-machine folder and be available for all users. You must have local Administrator privileges
6. Select Install.
7. Once installation has completed, select Finish.

Subscribe to a workspace

A workspace combines all of the Remote Apps that you have been given access to. To be able to see these in the Remote Desktop client, you need to subscribe to the workspace by following these steps:

1. Open the Remote Desktop app on your device.
2. Click on the Subscribe button.
3. Sign into your user account using your Fort Lewis College email address.

Connect to your Remote Apps

Now that you have added the workspace to your Remote Desktop Application, you can simply double-click on any application that you would like to run. After a short delay while the connection is being made, your application will start, and you can use it as through it is installed directly on your computer.

1. Launch OneDrive to access your shared files across all Remote Apps (must be opened each time you login, per workspace* before launching your program)
   • *There are two workspaces available within Remote Apps, "GPU Lab - Remote Apps" and "Remote Apps"
2. Open your program

• A device running macOS 12 or later.

If you are on an FLC owned Apple computer, the Windows App should already be installed and available for you to use. If this is the case, you can skip the install process and follow the “Subscribe to a workspace” instructions to use the Remote Apps environment.

Download and install the Windows App

1. Download and install the Windows App from the Mac App Store.

Add work or school account

A workspace combines all of the Remote Apps that you have been given access to. To be able to see these in the Windows App, you need to subscribe to the workspace by following these steps:

1. Open the Windows App app on your device.
2. In the Connection Center, select +, then select Add work or school account.
3. After a few seconds, the Microsoft Sign in page should open, sign in with your FLC email

Setting up Folder Redirection

You can configure the Windows App application to allow you to access your local files while using the Remote Apps and to save files on your local computer from the application. You will need to configure this one time and it will work for all of the Remote Apps applications.

1. Open the Windows App app on your device.
2. Select Windows App from the menu bar (top bar).
3. Select Settings.
   1. This can also be opened by pressing [ ⌘ + , ] ( Command + , ) on your keyboard while you have the Remote Desktop application selected
4. Under the General tab look for the section that says If folder redirection is enabled for RDP files or managed resources, redirect:
5. Click on the drop down menu and select Choose folder…
   Navigate to the folder that you would like to redirect, we recommend your User folder, and select Choose.

Connect to your Remote Apps

Now that you have added the workspace to your Remote Desktop Application, you can simply double-click on any application that you would like to run. After a short delay while the connection is being made, your application will start, and you can use it as through it is installed directly on your computer.

1. Launch OneDrive to access your shared files across all Remote Apps (must be opened each time you login, per workspace* before launching your program)
   • *There are two workspaces available within Remote Apps, "GPU Lab - Remote Apps" and "Remote Apps"
2. Open your program

Alternatively, on devices that cannot run the Remote Desktop application, the Remote Apps web client can be used on any device that has a compatible web browser. This method will run the application inside of a virtual window in your web browser so the experience can be slightly diminished for certain workloads, we recommend only using this method for quick access or for use from devices that the Remote Desktop application cannot be installed on.

• A supported web browser. While any HTML5-capable web browser should work, we officially support the following web browsers and operating systems:

Access the Remote Apps

1. Open your web browser.
2. Go to the following URL: https://client.wvd.microsoft.com/arm/webclient/
3. Sign in with your FLC email address.
4. Launch OneDrive to access your shared files across all Remote Apps (must be opened each time you login, per workspace* before launching your program)
   • *There are two workspaces available within Remote Apps, "GPU Lab - Remote Apps" and "Remote Apps"
5. Open your program
6. A prompt for Access local resources may be displayed asking you to confirm which local resources you want to be available in the remote session. Make your selection, the select Allow.
